Caverion lands installation contract for the Malmö Live office complex in Sweden

Caverion will plan and install ventilation, piping and sprinklers in the office building as part of the construction project known as Malmö Live in Malmö, Sweden. The project started in October 2013 and Malmö Live is slated to open in the summer of 2015. The value of the order for Caverion's installation work is nearly EUR 3 million.

An entirely new city district is being constructed along the canal at Neptuniparken on Universitetsholmen. The project features concert, congress and hotel facilities as well as two residential buildings and an office building. Skanska will build the office building of approximately 10,000 square meters and it will have varying floor heights from four to nine storeys including garages and commercial premises on the ground floor. Danish architect, Dorte Mandrup, has created a facade with external fixed shading that lets in natural light while protecting from heat and direct sunlight.

The office building at Malmö Live is a sustainability project that will be certified according to LEED, Green Building and Malmö city environmental construction program.

The premises will feature system walls so that the tenants themselves can shape their own office environment and create space-efficient workplaces. To create a flexible installation system and also to gain an even air flow throughout the entire floor plan, it was decided to connect the ends of the air duct system, which reduces air velocity.

- We have chosen to work with self-regulating ventilation in all our projects, based on symmetric duct systems and final depressurisation in the end apparatus and units, as it provides more flexibility for future adaptation, says Tomas Roos, Engineering Manager at Skanska.

- So called “round feeding” is a slightly unusual solution and an ample duct system can lower SFP values on ventilation, says Per Rosberg, Installation Manager Caverion Sverige AB.
