Caverion teams up with international automotive supplier SMP in Germany
Caverion equips a new production plant operated by international automotive supplier SMP with building technology in Schierling, Germany. The order includes the installation of heating, cooling, ventilation, sanitary and compressed air systems. From as early as November 2014, bumpers and other components will be produced and painted in a production area measuring around 39,000 square metres.
The project team have by the end of the year to fit out the newly constructed injection moulding hall and paint shop, the high-bay warehouse, the entire assembly and storage halls, the energy centre and the administrative buildings. By March 2014, the first production equipment should be installed in the new premises.
- We are pleased to have a partner that, alongside the required systems competence, also has extensive experience with orders of this magnitude. SMP have already been able to rely on the experience and expertise of Caverion in the construction of the SMP plant in Neustadt an der Donau, says the plant manager Manuel Ötsch.
SMP, operating under the name Peguform until 2011, is an international automotive supplier for cockpits, door and bumper coverings. SMP is one of the 50 largest automotive supply companies worldwide. The new production plant is expected to create 500 new jobs by 2017.
